APRON: A Cellular Processor Array Simulation and Hardware Design Tool
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a software environment for the efficient simulation of cellular processor arrays (CPAs). This software (APRON) is used to explore algorithms that are designed for massively parallel fine-grained processor arrays, topographic multilayer neural networks, vision chips with SIMD processor arrays, and related architectures. The software uses a highly optimised core combined with a flexible compiler to provide the user with tools for the design of new processor array hardware architectures and the emulation of existing devices. We present performance benchmarks for the software processor array implemented on standard commodity microprocessors. APRON can be configured to use additional processing hardware if necessary and can be used as a complete graphical user interface and development environment for new or existing CPA systems, allowing more users to develop algorithms for CPA systems.

Design and Implementation of Field Programmable Gate Array Based Baseband Processor for Passive Radio Frequency Identification Tag (TECHNICAL NOTE)
In this paper, an Ultra High Frequency (UHF) base band processor for a passive tag is presented. It proposes a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag digital base band architecture which is compatible with the EPC C C2/ISO18000-6B protocol. Several design approaches such as clock gating technique, clock strobe design and clock management are used. In order to reduce the area Decimal Matrix C...
متن کاملUsing scripting languages for hardware/software co-design
In this thesis we present a new vertical methodology targeting the hw/sw co-design of embedded SoCs. For the suggested methodology a digital design and verification tool named System Python (SysPy) has been developed, using the strengths of the popular Python scripting language. We exploit the features of the language to boost the productivity of processor-centric SoC designs for Field Programm...
متن کاملAutomated Combination of Simulation and Hardware Prototyping
This paper presents InterSim, a design method that automates the combination of software simulation and hardware prototyping for application development targeting platforms based on reconfigurable hardware. The main idea of InterSim is to enable simulation of the module under development in software, while the inputs and outputs of that module are connected to other hardware elements in its com...
متن کاملImplementation of Face Recognition Algorithm on Fields Programmable Gate Array Card
The evolution of today's application technologies requires a certain level of robustness, reliability and ease of integration. We choose the Fields Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware description language to implement the facial recognition algorithm based on "Eigen faces" using Principal Component Analysis. In this paper, we first present an overview of the PCA used for facial recognition,...
متن کاملHarnessing FPGAs for Computer Architecture Education
Computer architecture and design is often taught by having students use software to design and simulate individual pieces of a computer processor. We are working on a method that will take this classwork beyond software simulation into actual hardware implementation. Students will be able to design, implement, and run a single-cycle MIPS processor on an FPGA. This paper presents the first steps...
